Ragnarök Performer Auditions

Tortoise in a Nutshell have an exciting opportunity for performers to audition for our new international co-production Ragnarök in 2019.

Tortoise in a Nutshell is an Edinburgh based visual theatre company. Over the past eight years we have created original devised productions that have toured to over eighty cities, towns and villages across the globe. We are currently seeking collaborator/performers for a new production entitled Ragnarök.

Drawing inspiration from the Nordic myth cycle of the same name, Ragnarök will be created in October/November 2019, before touring throughout 2020, with the possibility of further presentation in the coming years. The piece will be created as a co-production with Norway’s Nordlands Visual Theatre, and as such, will be shaped over a seven week residency at their base in the village of Stamsund, Norway.

A fusion of forms, blending human performance, multi-scale puppetry, live feed animation and a live scored soundtrack, Ragnarök will be created by a collective of co-collaborators. We are therefore particularly keen to find performers with a passion for devised work; an ability in music and/or with experience in puppetry. We are welcoming performers who identify as female to a workshop style audition on either the 19th or 20th January 2019 in Edinburgh, where they will be introduced to Tortoise in a Nutshell’s practice.

Tortoise in a Nutshell welcomes a diverse range of performers and would encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply. We seek to make our workshops as accessible as possible, so if you have any access requirements please do not hesitate to contact us.

Tortoise in a Nutshell is a member of the ITC’s Ethical Manager programme and as such all contracts will be set to ITC/Equity agreed standards.

If you would like to know more, or to apply for the auditions, please send a copy of your CV with covering email to info@tortoiseinanutshell.com.
