Grit was created in 2012 as a piece of visual puppet theatre which looked at the impassioned and controversial relationship between children and war. A reality of conflict which has been both heavily documented and buried under the carpet, Grit explored the experience of lost children, lost childhood and the crushing effects of being raised at war.

An intimate tale inspired by real-life accounts of child soldiers, war correspondents
and families torn apart through armed conflict, Grit used a range of theatrical styles (from tabletop rod puppetry to projection) to create an immersive and touching story about human experience.

Grit debuted at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it was shortlisted for both an Arches Brick Award and a Total Theatre Award and garnered great audience and critical praise.
